John McGuire at The Paragon Club, 20th April 2010

Join us on Tuesday 20th April at Slumdog Bar & Kitchen for a lunch where John will share with you his amazing story.

The Lunch Club provides an opportunity for members to come and listen to a speaker who will be a leader in their field. The topics will be current and address issues faced by every business in an economic climate which is very difficult.

Following on from our sell out lunch with Azeem Ibrahim, The Paragon Club is delighted to invite you to a lunch with one of Scotland’s most successful entrepreneurs – John McGuire, Managing Director of The Phoenix Car Company.

After gaining experience in the industry including sales and managerial positions with Arnold Clark, the Ian Skelly Group and Nissan UK, John founded the company in 1993 and within 4 years Phoenix Honda became the number one volume retailer in Europe.

John will be giving a unique insight into the motor trade market and the highs and lows of running a company during the recent economic downturn.

This is an event not to be missed by anyone running their own company or thinking of setting out to be their own boss.

The event will get underway at 12.15pm with registration and a buffet lunch will be served at 12.30pm. John will address guests after lunch followed by a question and answer session before the event concludes at 2pm.

Bosses are invited to join new network club

Curry King Charan Gill has launched a new business network in Glasgow.

The entrepreneur hopes The Paragon Club will increase the opportunities for company decision-makers to get together to discuss business issues on a regular basis.

It aims to promote business in the city, central belt and west of Scotland with events throughout the year.

Mr Gill, one of Scotland’s most prolific entrepreneurs and business role models is also vice-chairman of The Entrepreneurial Exchange.

He said: “The Paragon Club is open to all senior decision makers in business – and that’s the difference between Paragon and other business networks. I have a passion for exchanging ideas and information with both established business people and budding entrepreneurs.

“This new networking club will offer the Glasgow business community a high-level platform on which to enjoy robust discussions with like-minded individuals.

“The Glasgow business scene is fast-paced and constantly changing – we need to grow with it and make decisions quickly.

“The Paragon Club will help foster new business relationships as well as assist economic recovery throughout 2010.”

A key component of The Paragon Club is its online business networking facility where members can develop their own networks with fellow Paragon Club members.

Councillor Steven Purcell, leader of Glasgow City Council, was the keynote speaker at the Clydesdale Bank-sponsored launch on Friday at Slumdog Bar and Kitchen.

Another component of The Paragon Club will be its round-table Captain’s Table series which will bring together groups of people, generally from specific business sectors, to discuss a pertinent topic over a curry at the Slumdog Bar and Kitchen venue.
